KB4SA: Boy Scouts create amateur radio station

ORANGE PARK –The North Florida Council of the Boy Scouts is creating an amateur radio station, KB4SA. KB4SA encourages, equips and prepares young people to be vibrant citizens and dynamic community leaders through the use of amateur radio and the practice of emergency communication guided by the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

ICOM to Support Boy Scouts at National Jamboree and at Local Council Level





Against the backdrop of the 2012 Dayton Hamvention® — the largest gathering of radio amateurs in the US — ICOM America announced a sponsorship agreement with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) for the organization’s 2013 National Scout Jamboree. As the BSA’s official Amateur Radio transceiver supplier for the jamboree, ICOM will provide equipment and technical support for the K2BSA radio operation, the Radio merit badge and Jamboree on the Air.

On the inaugural occasion of MALABAR AMATEUR RADIO & SCOUTING SOCIETY-VU2MLQ (MARSS ), VU2MLQ India’s first Radio Head Quarters for the INTERNATIONAL RADIO SCOUTING MOVEMENT & DISASTER COMMUNICATIONS, decided to operate 8T1M, A very special 8T Prefix call allotted for the first time in India by WPC Ministry of Communication & IT…
Initially this special event station will be active from the field day location KAPPAD Beach (Historical place in Calicut, Kerala State South West Cost of India) for a period of 4 days starts from 27th to 30th May 2012, later the event station will be moved to HQ
QRV from 10 through 160 meters on CW, SSB and RTTY with 2 stations simultaneously on different bands/modes.
LoTW will be available after the event.

SJ22S is the special event station of the 22nd World Scout Jamboree held this summer from 7/27-8/7, in the town of Rinkaby, Sweden. SJ22S will be operating SSB, CW, FM, SSTV and PSK31 on 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m, 10m and 6m, plus local VHF/Echolink on the UHF repeater (434.750 MHz (- 2.0 MHz shift)).

38,000 scouts from around the world will be attending this Jamboree.
